Virginia Pro chapter hosts Region 2 Conference

More than 75 attendees participated in the Region 2 Conference at Virginia Commonwealth University on Saturday, March 31, 2007.

Information sessions were planned and panelists selected to fit this year's theme, “Remembering the Past, Looking to the Future.” Panelists from print, broadcast and online media discussed online writing, issues facing television news and the Freedom of Information Act.

Special sessions for students included portfolio critiques and a panel discussion on applying for and landing media jobs.

A luncheon and awards presentation honored Mark of Excellence winners from the region, which includes Virginia , Delaware , North Carolina , Maryland and Washington , D.C.

Student participants from Virginia Commonwealth University reported on three information sessions, “Thriving in the Online World,” “Death of the Newscast?” and “How I Learned to Live With FOIA.”
