The San Francisco State campus newspaper,
Golden Gate [X]press, was announced as
one of the 16 2002 winners of the Pacemaker Award, given to college newspapers
in several categories.
The Pacemaker, started in 1927 by the
Associated Collegiate Press, judges
papers on several different aspects including coverage and content, quality
of writing and reporting, leadership on the opinion page, evidence of in-depth
reporting, design, photography, art and graphics.
The Editors for the winning run were Adam Ashton and Jennifer Kowal.
[X]press was one of two Bay Area colleges to receive the prestigious award.
The
Advocate,
the campus paper for Contra Costa College, a two-year institution also won.
