Local students wins SPJ National Essay contest
In April, Angelika Zych, an incoming freshman at Florida State University, won the national SPJ High School Essay contest. Zych, a graduate of Vanguard High School in Ocala, won the local contest, which covered Marion and Alachua County schools, and was sponsored by North Central Florida SPJ and the University of Florida SPJ chapters. She also won Ocala Style's writing competition. By winning both writing contests, Angelika was awarded $2,000 in scholarship funds.
