TV station barred from Memphis school lunch center

In the wake of recent problems, Memphis' WREG-TV Channel 3 asked to go into the the Memphis City School system's Central Nutrition Center and have been turned down.

"We normally don't allow anyone in," replied (Superintendent Dan) Ward. "What would be the purpose?"

There's many reasons: To see what our children are or are not eating, for one. What are they getting for their (parents') money? Is it "nutritiou" and by whose standards? Do the children really eat their fruits and vegetables or just toss them? Do corn dogs count as protein, etc.? Plus, there have been scandals in Memphis' lunch programs related to cost/spending. Channel 3 probably had a good reason. I've covered school food programs and the barrel of news is bottomless.
