Panel discusses use of social media by journalists

Social Media 001

Evolving technology today puts news at our fingertips. Emergencies unfold on television as the media is there reporting from a tragedy or a school lockdown. Coverage unfolds on Facebook andTwitter as people post what is happening in emergency situations.

On March 25, a panel of three Kansas City  journalists, discussed how much should we use social media to report what is happening. The JJ’s explosion is a current example of how reports were going out over people's twitter and Facebook.

Sarah Clark, Fox4News Interactive Content Producer, Jeff Lanza, Retired FBI Agent, consultant, author and speaker, and Bill Smith, 41 Action News, Director of New Media

The program was sponsored by the Press Club and KC Hispanic News.
