Thousands of people, including many women and children, have been murdered in Juarez, Mexico, in recent years. It's considered the most violent city in the world . El Paso, Texas, is right across the border from this violence-ravaged area. Armando Durazo, who is an editor at the El Paso Times, has been involved in coverage of the border region, and will talk about the violence plaguing Juarez and how both Mexican and U.S. journalists report on it. Human rights abuses and corruption in Mexico also will be discussed. Also joining the discussion will be Bob Moore, a former executive editor of the El Paso Times and current executive editor of the Fort Collins Coloradoan, and Cathleen Carter-Miller, a journalism graduate student who recently spent several months in El Paso observing journalism at the Mexico/U.S. border.

Sponsored by CSU Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Journalism and Technical Communication, El Centro Student Service and the CSU chapter of Society of Professional Journalists.
