ROSE ANN ROBERTSON

Rose Ann is director of AU School of Communication's Writing
Programs and Weekend Graduate Programs, Interactive Journalism
and News Media Studies. Prior to coming to AU, Rose Ann worked
for the Associated Press as the Washington desk supervisor,
Nebraska news editor, New York general desk national editor
and supervisor and Chicago desk supervisor. Prior to her tenure
at AP, she worked for The Milwaukee Journal as a copy editor
and on the national desk, metro desk and Op-Ed page.
BRETT ZONGKER

Brett was recently named
editor in chief of The Eagle, American University's student
newspaper, and prior to his appointment worked as managing
editor for news and news featres editor for the publication.
Currently, Brett is an intern at Federal City Communications
and is a junior at AU majoring in public communication.

Esther is a junior studying broadcast journalism at AU
and is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association,
RTNDA, AFTRA union. She currently works at Fox 5 (WTTG) as
guest coordinator and freelance writer.
ANDREW NOYES (202

Andrew is a communications consultant at the National Education
Association's "TECH: Making the Grade" and is a
public communication senior at AU. He has worked for Radio
Free Europe/Radio Liberty (Prague), States News Service (Washington,
D.C.), The Register-Herald (Beckley, W.Va.) and was
named a 2001 Scripps Howard Foundation Top Ten Scholar.

WILL THOMAS, Fox 5 News: Keynote Speaker
Will is a reporter and weekend anchor for Fox 5 (WTTG-TV).
In 2001, Will was honored with an Emmy for his live reporting
and in 1999, he won the Emmy for in-depth reporting of
the Ku Klux Klan in Maryland. Before joining WTTG-TV,
Thomas was a reporter at KEYE-TV (Austin, TX) and KOAT-TV
(Albuquerque, NM). He graduated from San Jose State University
with a BS degree in political science and broadcast journalism. |
RODGER STREITMATTER, AU School of
Communication
Rodger was a reporter and regional editor bureau chief
for The Roanoke Times and World News and has contributed to
George magazine, The Washington Post, Journalism History,
Journalism and Mass Communications Quarterly and others others.
Additionally, he has authored several books including: Raising
Her Voice: African-American Women Journalists Who Have Changed
History; Unspeakable: The Rise of the Gay and Lesbian Press
in American; Mightier than the Sword: How the News Media Have
Shaped American History; Empty Without You; The Intimate Letters
of Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena Hickok.
WENDY SWALLOW, AU School of Communication
Wendy has been a reporter and assistant editor for business
and financial news at The Washington Post and is the author
of several books including "Breaking Apart: A Memoir
of Divorce and Discovery." She has contributed to The
Washingtonian, The National Journal, Washington Journalism
Review, Journalism Quarterly, Journalism Educator, The Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette, Readers' Digest, Ladies Home Journal and others.
JOHN WATSON, AU School of Communication
John has been a reporter, city editor, news editor and writing
coach at The Jersey Journal and was contributor for History
of the Mass Media in the United States: An Encyclopedia. His
awards include acclaim from the New Jersey Press Association
and the Hudson County Newspaper Guild.
ROBERT BECKER, Media Lawyer
Bob is a Washington, D.C. attorney who counsels journalists,
authors, editors, publishers and other creative individuals
on media-related legal issues, including access to government
information. He has was a staff attorney at the Reporters
Committee for Freedom of the Press, and was a newspaper reporter
and editor for 12 years.
PAUL F. ALBERGO, The Bureau of National Affairs, Inc
Paul is a former congressional reporter covering health
care and currently manages a network of correspondents in
the United States and around the world.
DAN CATERINICCHIA, Federal Computer Week Magazine
Dan specializes in writing for the web and knows the ins
and outs of changing an online story into a print story (and
vice versa).
PICHAYA "NOI" FITTS
Noi has 10 years of journalism experience in Thailand,
including two years as photographer for AFP and five years
as a business and financial news reporter. Her experience
covers a wide range of political and business issues.
BRANDI TOBY
Prior to attending AU, Brandii worked as an entertainment
publicist for the syndicated television shows "Real TV"
and "Maximum Exposure" and worked with colleagues
on "Dr. Laura" and "Leeza."
JEN GROSS
Jen, a senior in the AU School of Communication, has been
news features and features editor for The Eagle, interned
for Sun Newspapers (Cleveland) and is currently employed by
AU's Media Relations Office and the Center for Public Integrity--a
nonprofit investigative journalism organization.
